East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Asked to Immediately Dredge Surilang Reservoir

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar asked Water Resources Sub-agency to immediately dredge Surilang Reservoir on Jalan Surilang RW 01 Gedong Urban Village, Pasar Rebo.

Surilang Reservoir is one of the priorities to be dredged in order to anticipate inundation during rainy season

It was stated after seeing reservoir's condition which began to silting. His side also found a lot of garbage on the reservoir. It was feared that condition could trigger inundation in the surrounding areas during rainy season.

"Surilang Reservoir is one of the priorities to be dredged in order to anticipate inundation during rainy season. We ask SDA Sub-agency to dredge it as soon as possible," he conveyed while inspecting the reservoir on Saturday (9/11).

According to him, normalizing the reservoir can increase its capacity thus flood could be avoided.

Pasar Rebo Sub-district Head, Mujiono conveyed Surilang Reservoir was last dredged in 2018.

"It has very narrow road to be accessed by heavy equipment. So we can only use medium-sized heavy equipment to dredge it," he mentioned.

His side has coordinate intensively with local residents regarding providing road access for heavy equipment in their settlements.

"Residents have agreed to provide temporary access for heavy equipment to enter and exit the site," he said.
